Hi—My name is Michelle Marie and welcome to Home Page

This is my Out and About page

(Most of these photos were taken in 2005 & 2006)

At first glance you’d think I was in Hawaii wouldn’t you? This was actually taken at a wedding I attended on Mackinac Island in Michigan. The gazebo was at the Grand Hotel, so you can imagine the cost of the wedding!

Yes, I love flowers, and you can see why I like to spend time on my deck admiring all of God’s creations. It’s a shame that we have so few months of summer flowers. All things considered it can be really beautiful out here in the middle of winter too. Maybe I’ll snap a picture.

There is nothing more rewarding than being able to share your talents with others—that’s what volunteering is all about. This little wall mural is just one example of what can be done by others with just a little direction and help. This whole wall was painted by the third grade class. All I did was the outline and paint mixing. I think it turned out beautifully don’t you?

Oh dear me, it’s that time of year again when the weather dictates the wearing of boots and dark colors. How I so much miss Spring and Summer, but Fall is quickly on it’s way and one has to stay up with the latest fashions.

This, by far, is one of my favorite photos. I know you won’t have a clue about the location, so I’ll be kind and tell you this was taken in Central Park, New York. I have visited this city more times than I can count and still marvel at the beauty and colors of this great park in when the leaves start they’re fall to the earth. Mother Nature always has such delightful treats to be seen.

Do you remember those Vermont postcards that you could pick up at the visitor’s centers along the highway? This fall photo seems to fit that venue—and is another one of my favorites. I’m not going to make you guess where this was taken, but I hope you will believe me that it was up in God’s country—Wisconsin. If you haven’t noticed by now, I’m an out doors kind of girl and can’t stand being cooped up inside when the weather is this beautiful.

This was taken just this year while I was on a drive around the northern part of Wisconsin, in fact it was just outside the River Falls area and not too far from the Mississippi River.

I wish I didn’t fear bugs and critters so much—like mosquitoes and mice. I can see why people go out camping when your surroundings look like this. Oh, did I forget to mention the bears? They tend to get a little curious around people, especially if they happen to be carrying any food. I’m told they even like toothpaste. Guess you won’t ever find me wondering around in the woods alone.

I’m not going to spend much time explaining this picture because it was taken at a place that I usually avoid like the plague—a golf course!

No, I don’t play golf, I have no interest in golf, and further more if I had a free 5½ hours in my life, it wouldn’t be spent playing golf. I know I’m going to get a lot of feedback from all the golf and sports enthusiasts out there, but I can always think of much more productive things to do then chase a little ball around so many acres of trees and sand traps.

Anywho, the trees were just beginning to turn and you already know how much I enjoy the Fall colors, so I had to include this picture in my gallery.

Have you noticed that we have had an extremely beautiful and long Fall season? You just know that I am going to take every advantage of it possible.

You may tire from the thought of ranking leaves, but I never tire of their frail beauty as they lay on the ground, waiting to be gathered up.

Did I mention that I love this season?

As long as I can add photos to my home page you will have to put up with the occasional religious shot or two.

Being a good Irish Catholic girl, more often than not you will find me among setting like this.  This picture was taken at a nearby nursing home. I probably don’t spend as much time here as I should but I also know that the elderly often feel neglected and unwanted. I look at it from the perspective that you and I wouldn’t be here if it were not for the aged and infirmed. We owe them our lives and should go out of our way to remind them of how much they’re loved and appreciated. Ok, enough of my evangelizing, now rush out and visit the sick and elderly because it won’t be too long before you’re in one of these facilities. And who will come to visit you?

Before you ask me, yes I do have a smidgen of musical talent. Albeit, I probably wouldn’t be very good at the organ (like this one) but I can manage a song or two on the piano among other things.

I can’t read music to save my life, but once I hear a song I can generally play it—after hours and hours of practice.

Maybe I will get a few old photos out when I actually spent a considerable amount of time learning how to play the guitar. Funny, I’m sure I don’t look like a guitar picker!

The Buckingham Fountain, located in Grant Park, is one of Chicago's most popular attractions and one of the largest fountains in the world. It was opened in May of 1927. The four sea horses you see on its sides represent the four states that touch Lake Michigan: Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.

I guess if anyone is going to have their picture taken in downtown Chicago, it absolutely has to include this famous fountain. It won’t be long now (maybe another month) and it will be shut down for the winter once again—sigh.
